The Swingers

Actually these are known as Lawn Swingers. You hang them in a tree or on a porch, with a little breeze they'll start swinging. A lot of wind and they really have fun! I've had real good luck at the craft shows with these, you could say I've about saturated the area! My best selling lawn swinger has always been the Old Crow. I drew a better face than any I've seen, added a little "3D" to the face and use "hands" rather than eyescrews. Here's 2 "different" crows, notice the position of the sunflower and the tailfeathers.

Another one I had a lot of luck with was the kitten. You can paint him a number of different ways as some people want a black cat, calico, etc.

These plans run $8.50 postage paid in the USA. They aren't that hard to construct, involves no carving, only sawing, sanding, and painting. I use a bandsaw with a 1/8 inch blade, I'm sure a scrollsaw would work too. Click here to buy the Kitten plan...
